Where it all began...

War was never the want or function for the Tsukiyomi family, even before they saw fit to flee their home in Doma at the start of Garlean aggression some 50 years ago.So it was no surprise that the prolific merchant line saw fit to resettle in Ul'dah away from the shadows of the Empire.Nor was it a surprise when the current heir to that line, Hayato Tsukiyomi, had used his wealth to sustain a foothold for trade in Ishgard of all places where he met Aralise Amlen, eldest child to minor house Amlen.Aralise had long desired a home by the sea and Hayato was quick to give it. Though not swiftly enough as their first two children were born in Ishgard proper, they were later moved to La Noscea due to urgent health concerns with the blessing of the Holy See.

First born were the twins, Keigo and Emi, bearing porcelain skin and soft red hair, eyes like pearls or clouded moons they were wonderful, for a time.Where Keigo bloomed though, Emi wilted, at the age of 2 she was identified as having the same debilitating condition as her grandfather, Katsuo. Not only her life, but what was expected of the young woman would forever be changed from that moment forward.Never were the days that she could run or frolic, hers were days spent inside watching others in that merriment. Her mother and father, so terrified that some terrible fate would befall the porcelain doll that she was hardly even allowed to venture beyond the walls of her manor room.Still she was well spoken, a kind and eager heart. For this her mother had planned to see house Amlen brought from a minor house into something grand. It all weighed upon the frail girls shoulders; what could possibly go wrong?At the age of 6 Emi had learned the climate of Ul'dah to be more accepting to her weakened heart and was to study with her brother there with a fair number of private tutors. That was until a frightfully disgruntled man found his ire upon Emi and her father and while both live to share the story of the event, the consequences of that moment linger.Emi's throat was crushed, left to mend slowly over time and thus taking any semblance of voice she possessed. The merit of her mother's wants and plans for Emi died that day; as did the older woman's love for such a useless, undesired child. Emi was a tax upon the family now and had it not been for the due diligence of her twin would have perished twice over from the wounds she sustained in the initial assault.

Lessons

Some learned easier than others...

Emi did recover from her assault and took to her studies as an Alchemist but from the far safer confines of her Limsan home. It was later learned that the sheer staggering levels of her aether might be better served elsewhere.That 'elsewhere' being Gridania where Emi took up conjury with a rather effortless display. To say she didn't work for her outcome might seem crass but for the frail woman who thought the world taken from her this one mercy meant everything.She was capable, she was reliable, she was able to give back so long as she could manifest. What no one in the family had told her was that Kan-E-Senna had called upon the small, underdeveloped girl by name. She was not Padjal, but she was blessed, so heavily attuned to the element of water that it seeped from her and still does even now.However Emi, despite the pain she had come to suffer was determined to keep the world from darkness even then. This want of peace earned her ire from some and pity from others. A poor naive girl who couldn't possibly understand the dangers of the world; why else would she be willing to die for it?It took years and many sleepless nights but her moniker was earned through the sweat of her brow and the tears she shed. While Emi still has much to learn about her own powers and how best to help others, Emi is a sanctioned White Mage of Gridania.

In the wake of Aralise realizing that her firstborn daughter would now never assume the mantle of a proper diplomat the displeased woman became scornful. Everything, every effort in her life from that point on became a labor put upon Emi's shoulders.Had she not failed as a daughter, her mother wouldn't need to have more children. It was a remark spouted by the woman to a fault, repeated without mercy or deviation. Her mother had to bear more children because Emi was a disgrace. Unable to live the life expected of her, all of Emi's other accomplishments paled in the eyes of her mother.Soon after Emi's 7th namdeay her little sister was born, Fujiko. Fujiko took after their mother with soft skin and chestnut hair with matching eyes. Plain in comparison to Emi and Keigo but beautiful in her own way; Another soft resentment slung towards the crippled girl.Fujiko was raised close at the hip to Aralise, to such a degree that the sisters even now are terribly estranged. Her mother had a poster child to flaunt at galas and other grand affairs, a child to endure the bitter chill of Ishgard without the threat of death.Hana though, the youngest, came as a surprise to many; unexpected but not unwanted. Bearing the same fair skin and chestnut colored hair, Hana's eyes were blue and while only a mere 9 summers old, she too is somewhat estranged from Fujiko and Aarlise, gravitating instead to the gentle arms of her older sister the two have spent many hours sequestered with dolls and paintings.

Some 6 years ago, for her dutiful efforts the Holy See saw fit to engage in a bit of sport; claiming Emi as a member of the church despite not being able to live within Ishgard proper. All that mattered was that she had been born Ishgardian by blood and was a White Mage by chance.Aralise saw fit to use this to her benefit, some 2 years ago she began a bid for Emi's hand in which the small girl might 'redeem' herself in the eyes of the family. Emi was promised to no less than 12 noble names, 9 of which were from Ishgard, the most notable being Durendaire and Fortemps. Each was sworn to the right in an arranged marriage with the frail, meek doll of a woman.The scandal ended in much blood as a shadowy man known only as 'The Patriarch' aided by her elder twin, Keigo took to action. Families were explained the duplicity and unsanctioned efforts of Aralise, born from spite and an inflated sense of self-worth. Many saw fit to to retract their funds without much fuss, but not all. Seeing her gifts and quaint ability to cry water crystals as a boon deserved for their efforts.Dissenting voices were quickly silenced by the steadfast duo and Emi was absolved of any blame in this matter. All the while House Amlen fell even farther from grace and has all but faded to obscurity.In a recent mercy from House Fortemps, despite the allegations against the girl, they saw fit to grant her patronage and sponsored her given name as a minor house within Ishgard. However when her own merit was then brought to light House Durendaire was rather swift to collect the prolific healer and her admirable efforts instead.It's from this and her three separate free clinics that Emi does much charity work and aims to do much more; if only she had the extra hands.

Emi's LoverSince a young age, anger had been the knight’s strongest ally. Ivarault had toiled for cycles and more to see this goal fulfilled and he is even now a dragoon of exquisite skill. It was by a chance intervention with Emi that the man's life took an unexpected turn which enabled him to see something more of himself.Nowadays Ivarault's dedication to Emi is without question. He seeks always to see her enabled for the good she might provide to the people and should that work prove dangerous, his lance is never far from his diminutive love to quell threats with no small measure of malevolence.

Emi's Eldest BrotherEsmond de Mounceaus was born native to Coerthas and knew a far harder walk through life than his estranged sibling. The revelation of this knowledge came upon them by a rather frail margin of chance and it was by further splitting that shard that the two later learned of their relations.Much like Emi's twin brother, there is concern for the frail woman's health, but where Keigo would shelter her from the world, Esmond invites her to see it, just not alone. He's devoted to helping her see the world she's since been removed from and no longer let her sickness dictate the paths she takes in life.

Emi's Twin BrotherStalwart and steadfast Keigo has ever been someone who understood his position in life from a young age. Growing up alongside Emi the two have hardly been away from one another, bonded in ways few can understand there is a serenity about him when close to his ailing twin.Emi's failing health has ever been a subject of worry for him though and the poor lad has developed some trauma over the near misses her health has caused in the past. In this regard he comes across as overbearing in his want to protect her lest his fear become a reality.

While its publicly known that Katsu hails from none other nation than Garlemald and while only few can really tell the reasoning the man holds loyally to Emi, none find themselves brave enough to question it openly.In all the viera houses a potent charismatic charm and a measured reach should one find themselves opposed.

Temple Knight CaptainEmi had answered a call from ishgard and found herself wanting. Having been barred from assisting Ishgard by her mother's name under house Amlen Foster took steps to enable Emi's profound want of charity through House Fortemps.She was, at Foster's insistence, sponsored by House Fortemps to found her own minor house which is still young and wanting, but no less eager than the small woman herself. Their relationship has been much of this pace since then with Emi's want to help boundless as Foster's ability to see it done.

The Small GuardianA gift from a departed friend, Gilbert was entrusted to the frail woman with no small share of his own troubles and problematic behaviors, but he was was in all regards loving and the two quickly formed a lasting bond.Gilbert now functions as Emi's service animal given her disabled state but also a means of comfort for those within the clinic that find the need for his presence. Bribery is accepted in the form of treats or head pats.
